Baby Mama
Would you put your eggs... in this basket?
Successful and single businesswoman Kate Holbrook (Tina Fey) has long put her career ahead of a personal life. Now 37, she's finally determined to have a kid on her own. But her plan is thrown a curve ball after she discovers she has only a million-to-one chance of getting pregnant. Undaunted, the driven Kate allows South Philly working girl Angie Ostrowiski (Amy Poehler) to become her unlikely surrogate. Simple enough...
After learning from the steely head (Sigourney Weaver) of their surrogacy center that Angie is pregnant, Kate goes into precision nesting mode: reading childcare books, baby-proofing the apartment and researching top pre-schools. But the executive's well-organized strategy is turned upside down when her Baby Mama shows up at her doorstep with no place to live.
An unstoppable force meets an immovable object as structured Kate tries to turn vibrant Angie into the perfect expectant mom. In a comic battle of wills, they will struggle their way through preparation for the baby's arrival. And in the middle of this tug-of-war, they'll discover two kinds of family: the one you're born to and the one you make.

There are a few funny scenes thanks mostly to Fey and Poehler. However, saving a few scenes was all they could do to try and help a dumb, choppy script. Most of the major storylines such as the surrogacy clinic and the relationship between Mom-wannabe and surrogate were more unbelievable than they needed to be. At first Martin and his pony-tail were funny, but at no point did Weaver draw any laughs. Both suffered from a script that offers each of them one recurring joke to be retold throughout. Also, jokes uncomfortably bomb in a court scene near the end of the film leaving you with a bad taste in your mouth.Better Than I Expected! - 1writer
After seeing the trailer for the movie, I thought it just may be one of those movies in which all of the funny material is packed into the advertisement for it and then it would run flat. I was pleasantly surprised to find a good number of funny moments and lines in the film besides those shown in the trailer. The story line was fluffed up, but not too bad. Amy Poehler seemed to have the best lines and delivery (no pun intended!) in the film. It is light, fun, silly and entertaining...just what you would expect from these two Saturday Night Lives actors.Better than I expected. - moviegenius
When I first saw the preview of this movie, I thought it was going to be just some raunchy, gross-out movie. When it came out, everyone was saying that it was better than the previews. I thought they were crazy and didn't take their advice for a year. Then, last night, I thought I might give it a try. I actually quite amused. It wasn't some bathroom humor. It was real humor. Another thing I should applaud about the movie is Steve Martin. He played Tina Fey's boss and was hysterical. One of the people I was watching the movie with said, ``No one else can pull this role off like Steve Martin does it.'' That person was right. Rent this movie. Highly recommend it. Don't watch the preview. It might turn you off from seeing the movie.
