The female lead offered a splendid performance..
I liked the fact that it took me into the "DL World" ..I was fascinated by the fact that none of the actors looked "suspect" which offered suspense and surprises in the movie..
Some of the "lingo" used by DL men looking to hook up with one another sounded a little ridiculous.. ie " dust in your eye" crapola.... but apparently these types of phrases are the norm in the DL world......
A more in depth plotline exploring and building on the the husband's character shudda/cudda been considered.....Something that needed to be said.... - mzjordan
This movie comes at this problem head on and that's offensive to some. It is a good dose of reality. I know men who lived on the dl and this movie is such a true depiction of the emotions, chaos and sometimes disaster that came from their actions. It's not a gay bashing movie. It's a movie that calls for responsibility of ones actions. It's a movie that says "you can't use the fear of discrimination as an excuse for betrayal". It's not a movie dropping this issue in the lap of the black community. I believe it's saying..sure this happens in all communities but as blacks let's deal with it in our community. It was, after all, directed by a black man trying to raise awareness of black people, not to cause racial chaos. I recommend watching this movie with an open mind and seeing it for what it is. It is men married to women...sleeping with other men secretly. That is betrayal, whether you look at it from a gay prospective or not.TOTAL MESS... - Ricardo
and some kind of personality disorder since the movie cannot make its mind up whether it's a thriller, a drama, an exposé on prejudice against gay black men, or even a comedy at times. It's actually boring and there is so much they tried to pack into the movie that they ended up leaving everything only half developed.
I definitely do not recommend this one!
