You Don't Mess With the Zohan
Lather. Rinse. Save the world.
A top Israeli commando named Zohan (Adam Sandler) fakes his own death in order to pursue his dream: becoming a hairstylist in New York. Though he wants to put his life of counter-terrorism behind him, he quickly finds that it is not so easy to escape one's roots. As enemies old and new try to take him out, they will all come to learn the same thing: you don't mess with the Zohan.

Well, you know what you're in for if you see a preview, but just in case you don't...Zohan is a surprisingly raunchy, absurdly silly comedy about an Israeli counter-terrorist agent (Sandler, with a horrible accent) who longs for the peaceful life of...a hair stylist. Becoming somewhat of a gigolo along the way, he manages to fulfill his dream, meet a girl (Emmanuelle Chriqui from Entourage, with an even worse accent than Sandler), and confront his Palestinian arch-nemesis.
If you enjoyed Sandler's other silly comedies, then give this one a Zip, but know that it doesn't have as much heart as The Wedding Singer, or even Happy Gilmore. Not worth the time - imagination201
While there are a few good laughs for a total of 2 minutes in two scenes, the rest of the movie is just a strange mix of parody and stupidity that just doesn't stick together after twenty minutes of trying to enjoy it.
However, I do admit that the montage of him washing hair, cutting hair and then banging the women in the backstore is good and funny, as is his super butterfly style back in Israel.
Other than that, though... what was the point of those parodies again?Want some hummus on that? - saint_angrrr
Ok... so this wasn't Adam Sandler's best movie ever, but I did find myself laughing out loud a lot in this movie. Even when I wasnt laughing, I was often still amused. I was glad to see Sandler back to comedy after he got into some more dramatic stuff.
This movie does a pretty good job of satiring the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. Sandler is making fun of both the jews and arabs at the same time, but to me they were mostly mocking the conflict itself and stating how stupid it has become. If you are expecting a cerebral, witty comedy with deep methaphors then why in hell are you watching an Adam Sandler movie anyway?
Towards the end, the movie started to come off the tracks a little for me... I think it had been a good enough movie to deserve a better ending than what they gave it.
To sum it up... This is a perfect movie to watch on a Friday night when you are tired from a long week at work and just want to be entertained without too much brain strain.
