Angel
In 1905 England, Angel Deverell (Romola Garai) is a grocer's daughter who dreams of becoming a famous writer and inhabiting the gorgeous country mansion that she often walks past but cannot enter. The precocious young woman pours all her fanciful romantic longings into flowery prose that eventually attracts the attention of a well-heeled London publisher (Sam Neill); fame soon follows, washing over her like a tidal wave.
Based on a novel by British author Elizabeth Taylor.

Francois Ozon is known for his Luminious and artfully skilled craftmanship. Angel However lacks character, heart and soul.
This movie could have so much better, but that's not to say it was bad. If you accept the fact that this was filmed as if it were made in the past and come to see of it more as a dream of her real life more than the actual reality of it (does that make sense?), then it seems a heck of a lot better.Tragic - bbryon1
This is a story about a young girl who grows up above a grocery store. She is a total brat. She lives in a dream world. She starts writing and later finds a publisher to print them. She later falls in love with a man who marries her for her money. She is oblivious to that and thinks he really loves her. He goes off to fight in the war and she is devastated. When he comes back she fights to keep him by her side. The ending is very tragic. What a waste of a life.Angel - poopoohead
I was kind of disappointed in the movie. It was not much of a love story as I thought it would be. The main character, Angel needed a good whooping, because she grew up as a brat. It was kind of boring. That's my thought on the movie. It took lot of time for the theme of the movie to take effect. Angel is not the best movie for anyone. If you're thinking of it as a love story, remember it's not a love story. It is a Tragedy.
