Dark City (Director's Cut)
The critically-acclaimed triumph from visionary director Alex Proyas (I, Robot, The Crow) is back with a brand new director's cut featuring enhanced picture and sound, never-before-seen footage and three commentary tracks that take you deeper than ever before into the world of one of sci-fis most exciting and revered tales. When John Murdoch (Rufus Sewell) wakes with no memory at the scene of a grisly murder, he soon finds himself hunted by the police, a woman claiming to be his wife and a mysterious group of pale men who seem to control everything and everyone in the city.

Worth watching! - Silverthorn
I think this movie was an interesting thought on the world and Kiefer Sutherland does a good job too. This film looks at the world in a different way and may have you raising questions.
It's similar to the concept of "Inception". I know Roger Ebert really enjoyed the film. I think it's worth checking out if you're looking for a somewhat thought-provoking film. It's underrated and many people may not have seen it. Definitely check it out if you're looking for something different to watch.
Now This is Mystery! - c4th
Now this is mystery! Unlike the original theatrical release, the director's cut of Dark City thrusts viewers into a totally alien world. Like its main character, we are in a state of total uncertainly. Where are we and how did we get here? John Murdock (Rufus Sewell) quickly realizes his vulnerability. With abbreviated memory, he discovers the corpse of a young lady just as three “men in black” abruptly arrive, intent on killing him.
This is a stylish film. Slender “men in black” dressed in heavy full length trench coats and black fedoras carry an air of mystery. Dramatic overhead shots of bald beings caped in gothic leather in huge cathedral type catacombs make them seem cold and sterile. In contrast, the sets used for the city are deep and narrow and dimly lit, purposely creating a claustrophobic atmosphere. Time appears arrested in the forties as emphasized by prevalent film noir. We discover the significance later.
I don’t notice style detail often, but could not overlook lighting in this movie. Main elements are very visible despite darkened backgrounds and peripherals. With good lighting technique and illuminating ideas, Alex Proyas (I Robot, Knowing) maintains a dark and isolated mood without compromising the visibility of his subject matter.
This film is not just about style however. It is an intelligent mystery using subtle clues. Listen to dialogue from minor characters to gradually unravel the mystery of where John is and learn the extent of his confinement. I love mysteries where we know what the protagonist knows, making discoveries with him. This film does that well but unnecessarily includes a lengthy explanation from Dr. Schreber (Kiefer Sutherland). I was also disappointed when Proyas copped out with an effects driven “battle of the sorcerers” climax. Despite these flaws I still found this a refreshing and entertaining science fiction mystery easily worth four stars.
