The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor
A New Evil Awakens.
A despotic Emperor (Jet Li) in 50 B.C. is punished for his evil when a witch lays a curse on him, turning him and his army into terra cotta for all time.
Forward to 1946, where Rick (Brendan Fraser) and Evelyn (Maria Bello) have retired to Oxfordshipre, England, having worked as British spies during WWII. They?re offered one last mission from the Foreign Office. Their assignment: courier a precious artifact back to the museum in Shanghai, China.
Back in Asia: China is in turmoil but Jonathan (John Hannah) owns an Egyptian-themed bar in Shanghai. Unbeknownst to his parents, now grown-up Alex O'Connell (Luke Ford) is following in the family business as a young archaeologist on a dig in north-central China. He makes the discovery of a lifetime: the tomb of the Dragon Emperor, which has been buried for millennia. The Emperor's monument is transported back to Shanghai where another plot is in motion: a military zealot intends to awaken the Emperor and aid him in the re-conquest of China and the raising of his terra cotta army of ten thousand clay warriors.

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor - TheWiz
This last installment of the Trilogy, is slightly better than the second one. Rachel is replaced by another actress, but that doesn't help. Weisz'z first performance in the Trilogy is the one we all remember and is never repeated. The very talented Jet Li, Michelle Yeoh and John Hannah once more rescue the movie as Brendan Fraser seems to get worse with each episode. In this last movie, Brendan gets a son to tag along, and he isn't much better although his romantic partner, Isabella Leong is believable. As usual, excellent CGI, but, doesn't every film have that now? Who needs actors? All you need is a great compter, 3D special effects, violence, a hint of R Rating and you have yourself money in the bank.Put It Back In The Tomb! - justbecause
Disappointing at best.
Maria Bello is a fine actress in her own right, but she is not Evie McConnell. If Rachel Weisz saw fit not to return for the third installment because of "script problems" they should have listened to her, fixed the problems and got her to reprise her role.
*Spoiler Alert!!* Stop reading if you don't want details.
The family dynamics between Rick, Evie and Alex were lacking - where was the slightly insane but loving bunch we last saw in "The Mummy Returns" (TMR)? The scenes between Alex and his parents felt a little like family therapy - I didn't picture Rick and Evie as a distant father figure and a clingy mom, based on TMR, but rather as a devoted dad and protective but not overly so mom. Where did the rest of this come from? If the writers have parent issues, they should get counseling, not air their issues in movies.
The special effects were lackluster, at best.
The story line was interesting, and had so much potential, but it went absolutely nowhere, and lacked the depth of the previous movies. That's right, the other two movies had more plot, story, accuracy and seriousness tha this 3rd rate bit of fluff. In fact, this movie made Scorpion King look like Oscar material.
Mummy III felt scattered, as though there were several plot lines on the go, none of which tied with each other as well as they could have, nor received the attention warrented.
The characters felt bitter and forced, and were painful to watch, compared to the happy-go-lucky insanity of the prior movies.
Any fan of The Mummy and The Mummy Returns will feel a little heartbroken at this pale imitation of what is really a wonderful movie franchise. If the rumors are true about Aztec mummies being next, let's hope the studio learned a thing or two here.ONE TOO MANY - pantherontherun
Well my take on this movie is maybe they went one to far or just needed a better scrypt, dont get me wrong it was amusing and adventurous, but the last 2 were much better and i still enjoy watching them and i will give this one another look at in the future, maybe i was thrown by the slow start compared to last 2 which the action started right away. I just wanted to add, maybe it would of been better with the original wife, i liked her style of adventure and her humor was much more enjoyable, but the new wife seemed to grow on towards the end.
one mans opinion,
