Bottle Shock
1976, Napa Valley. One small American winery and its workerss are about to show the French that the word's finest wines will now come from the other red, white and blue. Based on an inspiring true story and starring Alan Rickman (Love, Actually), Bill Pullman (Nobel Son), Chris Pine (Smokin' Aces) and Rachael Taylor (Transformers), Bottle Shock is an "intelligent, affectionate, beautifully acted movie" (The Hollywood Reporter) that pours out the laughs.
For connoisseur Steven Spurrier (Rickman), there's no finer art than French wine, despite rumors that the new California wine country holds the future of the vine. Positive the small Napa wineries are no match for established French vintages, Spurrier challenges the Americans to a blind tasting. But when he finds the valley full of ambitious - and talented - novice vintners like Jim Barrett (Pullman) and his son Bo (Pine), he realizes his publicity stunt may change the history of wine forever.

This movie was based on the true story about the recognition of Californian wines by the snobbish French wine connoisseurs. It is a great movie if you are interested in some history. Alan Rickman was the star of this movie and made it for us. His voice and facial expressions told the story. Definitely worth a watch.I'm British and well you're not. - blissful_muse07
A story about the famous Judgement of Paris competition in 1976 which had French judges blindly taste three different wines from California and France to determine the superior wine producer.
Chefs are truly passionate about the food that they create, and so there was no surprise to see the same amount of delight with wine makers hard at work. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this film and learning all about the story behind the Judgement of Paris and at the same time getting a glimpse at the serene beauty of the Napa valleys. It had a wonderful cast with Bill Pullman, Chris Pine and of course Alan Rickman who is rarely disappointing in any film.
Don’t be turned away if you’re not into wine because this is not just a movie for the wine drinkers, it’s all about the effort we put forth, the decisions we make, and the struggles that we face in order to make our lives less bitter and a just a little more sweeterBottle Shock - Jude
This was a great movie. Based on a true story, it was well written and well portrayed. The plot moved along well, and there are some wonderful characters. The documentary in the Extras takes you to the vinyard now and introduces the real people the story is about. An excellent piece of entertainment.
