In Pete Seeger: The Power of Song, director Jim Brown documents the life of one of the greatest American singer/songwriters of the last century. Pete Seeger was the architect of the folk revival, writing some of its best known songs including "Where Have All the Flowers Gone", "Turn, Turn, Turn" and "If I Had A Hammer". Largely misunderstood and criticized for his strong beliefs, he was picketed, protested, blacklisted, and, in spite of his enormous popularity, banned from commercial television for more than 17 years.
Musicians including Bob Dylan, Arlo Guthrie, Joan Baez, Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Springsteen, Natalie Maines, and Peter, Paul & Mary appear in this intimate portrait and discuss Seeger's lasting influence on the fabric of American music.

Pete Seeger's "boring" life, says one reviewer? Huh? For my generation (born not that long after the birth of Christ), Seeger was a god; and now, so many years later, I realize I'd forgotten what an enormous influence he had had on our generation and on American culture's brief flirtation with civilization. Long may his courageous and saintly contribution reign.Not much drama for a life well lived - Gaucho
If Pete Seeger was a drug addict, a rage aholic, or a Diva, this would be a fascinating character study. However, Seeger was/is basically a good man who has outlived the hatred assigned to him by the Mccarthy era.
Certainly, there was the fact that he was blacklisted and there's some tension there, but as a whole, it's not much of a grainy character study...
Which is a praise for Seeger and his life, music, and activism. May it be said for all of us that we do good and boring documentaries may be made of us!
