IMAX: The Alps
Climb of Your Life
In the air above Switzerland, on the sheer rock-and-ice wall known as the Eiger, an American climber is about to embark on the most perilous and meaningful ascent he has ever undertaken: an attempt to scale the legendary mountain that took his renowned father's life. Against a backdrop of overwhelming natural beauty, The Alps is a true-life story of extrodinary courage. It's the intensely personal journey of a man who has every reason not to climb the deadly Eiger North Face, yet climb it he must.
Featuring some of the most spectacular giantscreen imagery yet seen, the film celebrates the unsurpassed beauty of the Alps and the indomitable spirit of the people who live there.

This looks awesome on Blu-ray.
This is a documentary, not a "story" designed to please our Hollywood coddled brains, so whether or not you agree with the climber's outlook on life is immaterial. Of course, most of us would not risk our lives climbing a dangerous mountain. That's why we don't.
The point of the show is to wow us with nature's splendour, and it does.Great visuals, lame story - LandPhil
The good stuff about this movie is easy, spectacular visuals and great music. The story is simply idiotic when you think about it.
When he was eight years-old, the climber's father died while climbing the Eiger (mountain in Switzerland). Now as an adult, he decides to climb while his wife and young daughter wait in the village below. What annoyed me the most about this is that at one point his wife says (during the narration) "how important it is to him husband that his daughter grow up with a father". Really?! It's so important that he risks his life climbing the same mountain that killed his father!
Also, the guy even says this little quote during the movie "ever since I was eight year's old, I've had unfinished business with the Eiger", like it's the mountain's fault his father his dead. What a tool.
