Rachel Getting Married
When Kym (Anne Hathaway - Golden Globe Nominee, Best Actress, Motion Picture (Drama)), returns to the Buchman family home for the wedding of her sister Rachel (Rosemarie DeWitt), she brings a long history of personal crises, family conflict and tragedy along with her. The wedding couple's abundant party of friends and relations have gathered for a joyful weekend of feasting, music and love, but Kym - with her biting one-liners and flair for bombshell drama - is a catalyst for long-simmering tensions in the family dynamic. Filled with the rich and eclectic characters that remain a hallmark of Jonathan Demme's films, Rachel Getting Married paints a heartfelt, perceptive and sometimes hilarious family portrait.

I really don't understand all the criticism toward this movie. The acting was great all-around and the story was very compelling.
Rachel's wedding is the culmination of a lot of things that need to come out in the open about that family. Sure, it ain't delivered in a fast-paced way, but it's not meant to be. The way it was done here fits the reality of what a situation like that would be.
I felt the way it was shot made it so much more intimate. It felt real, it felt like a home movie.Getting Filler - RecoveringMystic
Perhaps it's because I worked as a wedding bartender for years. Perhaps it's because I'm a cynic. Perhaps. But most likely, this promising movie sucked because of the endless montages of irrelevant wedding moments. This movie is a good little short about a messed up girl mixed in with an hour of hallmark-cum-hipster card moments. If this was a home made movie I'd be impressed. But considering this was made by professionals I was shocked, shocked that they could take an hour of stuff that belongs on the editing room floor and mix it in. Anyone who has known the torture of enduring an actual wedding without alcohol will find this a nightmare. I had to keep getting up to fast forward becuase I couldn't stand another minute of filler. Enough of that. Acting wise Anne Hathaway is a treat and without her the movie would not have garned any attention. An excellent movie to put on while you do housework. Not As Good As I Thought - 0930tracey
I was anxious to see this movie, what with all the hype surrounding Anne Hathaway's performance. It's true, her performance was brilliant. But that's about it. I really did not like this movie. I sat through the whole thing, but I wish I hadn't. Wasn't what I was wanting, and expecting to see.
