Chapter 27
Based on a true story.
He came to New York to meet John Lennon... and the world changed forever.
On a raw, cold evening in early December of 1980, Mark David Chapman (Jared Leto), a disturbed drifter from Hawaii, met ex-Beatle John Lennon. Moments later, the entire world was shocked senseless...
Based on chilling true events, Jared Leto is unforgettable in his mental and physical portrayal of an unhinged and angry man whose descent into madness led him to commit one of the most infamous crimes of the 20th century. It is a psychological portrait like no other that will leave you stunned long after its nerve-shattering and tragic conclusion.

A sad Pathetic Man - ABC99
Whether or not you like Chapter 27 depends entirely on whether you feel the story of the pathetic sad sack that killed John Lennon deserves to be told. I'm not sure it is but it is an effective portrayal of madness. Mark David Chapman is not interesting, intellegent or poignant. He is pathetic and crazy and he killed a great artist because he is pathetic and crazy. The performance of Leto is effective and the mood of the film is right...meaning it is sad, dark and uncomfortable. Watch this if your interested but know what your getting...the tale of a pathetic man to took a great artist from us for no good reason even in his own head. Not Good - MovieProf
"Chapter 27" is a very weak film. It's only 80 minutes long, but because there is no real plot advancement, it feels substantially longer. The big problem here is the lack of an inciting force at the beginning of the film: we need to see what motive Chapman has to come to New York to confront/ultimately kill Lennon. Why is he here? What has Lennon done to deserve his hate? Why is it so painfully obvious that these questions be anwswered to give this film any hope? This film is a classic example of incompetent filmmaking. How do people put up millions of dollars and ignore such basic necessities like plot?Riveting portrayal of Mark David Chapman - AvidOscarBee
It's hard to believe that since December 8, 1980, that 28 years have passed since the death of the most famous Beatle, John Lennon.
I have to say that I'm not a fan of Jared Leto but his performance is transforming and riveting as he portrays the infamous killer, Mark David Chapman. I'd say that he's gained about 35-40 pounds on his tiny frame and his uncanny performance will leave you spellbound.
Otherwise, the plot is sorely lacking and this does not really give you an indepth insight of who this man is, why he was so obsessed with John Lennon, what did he read in J.D. Salinger's "Cather in the Rye" that made him commit this unspeakable act.
We all remember the imfamous photo of Mark David Chapman getting an autograph from John Lennon on one of his album covers, to then be shot to death in cold blood hours later. It's quite chilling and one only wishes that John had a premonition of the evil that was standing before him earlier before.
Thankfully, Mark is still in prison and his three attempts at parol have been denied.
I will not bother mentioning Lindsay Lohan because her performance is nothing short of boring and unimportant.
