The Last House on the Left
Includes Both the Unrated (114 mins) and Theatrical (110 mins) Versions of the Movie
Masters of horror Wes Craven and Sean Cunningham revisit their landmark film that launched Craven's directing career and influenced decades of horror films to follow: The Last House on the Left. Bringing one of the most notorious thrillers of all time to a new generation, they produce the story that explores how far two ordinary people will go to exact revenge on the sociopaths who harmed their child.
The night she arrives at the remote Collingwood lakehouse, Mari (Sara Paxton) and her friend are kidnapped by a prison escapee and his crew. Terrified and left for dead, Mari's only hope is to make it back to parents John and Emma (Tony Goldwyn, Monica Potter).
Unfortunately, her attackers unknowingly seek shelter at the one place she could be safe. And when her family learns the horrifying story, they will make three strangers curse the day they came to The Last House on the Left.

I like a good horror or thriller, but this was neither. Loads of ridiculous violence and no suspense whatsoever. Yes it is a movie, but you expect some level of realism - it is not a cartoon. However, after a major auto accident, a severe beating, violent rape, dash through a forest and being shot in the back, the heroine is still able to swim several kilometres in the dark in a thunderstorm. Do not waste your time.Choose 'Theater Release' on DVD Feature option. - Movies4Robb
Despite the realistical prolonged rape scene, this movie was well made. The acting was very good and I enjoyed the hidden-camera shots that the director used in some scenes. I would say this movie is more of a thriller, than a horror. However, the convicts are displayed as evil. You have good and evil and when they mix, the evil beasts must be beaten by the human beast. I would give this movie 3 1/2 stars out of five. Warning though, the rape scene is violent and the whole act of violence toward these two girls are heart-wrenching, but karma can be bad! On the disc features, I chose the 'director's cut', however, didn't like the end with the microwave scene. They should have just left it as the boat drives away. So I suggest to choose the 'theater release' version.50-50 - MrsH
This movie started with a great degree of suspense which I love. Friends and I went to the theatre for a good scare fest and that is indeed what we got. We were all very into the movie until there is a disgusting and graphic rape scene, that I did not pay $15.00 to see in a movie theatre. Just disgusting. That virtually ruined the movie for us all. I will however say that I loved the revenge plot that ended the film.
