Duplicity
Outwit. Outspy. Outsmart. Outplay. Then get out.
CIA officer Claire Stenwick (Julia Roberts) and MI6 agent Ray Koval (Clive Owen) have left the world of government intelligence to cash in on the highly profitable cold war raging between two rival multinational corporations. Their mission? Secure the formula for a product that will bring a fortune to the company that patents it first.
For their employers—industry titan Howard Tully (Tom Wilkinson) and buccaneer CEO Dick Garsik (Paul Giamatti)—nothing is out of bounds. But as the stakes rise, the mystery deepens and the tactics get dirtier, the trickiest secret for Claire and Roy is their growing attraction. And as they each try to stay one double-cross ahead, two career loners find their schemes endangered by the only thing they cheat their way out of: love.

Always liked both actors, but man what a confusing movie. Make sure you pay close attention to everything. It was an interesting story with twists and turns all over the place. I never really knew what was going on until I saw the credits..even now I'm still unsure!!Duplicity - darrylsteam
I had low expectations going into this flick... but not only did it deliver it made me watch it twice! It's a pretty complex movie an if you get up to get a drink or go to the bathroom make sure you push pause... missing a second can make you not understand the rest of the movie. Clive Owen is great as usually... and so is Roberts and it doesn't hurt that my wife feel in love with Clive and I feel in love with Julie. Two great actors in one great movie.Duped - cinecynic
I felt duped with Duplicity because the trailers made this sound like an edgy cat-and-mouse drama. They lied. The storyline does involve duplicity, but the way it is told--leaving the goods to the end--makes for a long, dull ride. My husband and I also fell asleep a couple of times (possibly because the story is told in the present and the past with the past constantly moving forward--without this timeline, it would have seemed even less like a so-called caper), but I think it's because the two leads just seem too "cool" to be engaging to watch. I had to force myself to get to the end, but really I didn't care what happened to the two main characters, played by Julia Roberts and Clive Owen.
Julia Roberts had a sour look on her face most of the time. I think it was her way of playing cagey, but really it just made her unlikeable as a character. It was hard to see why Clive Ownen's character would be drawn to her. The chemistry was non-existent. This is NOT a sexy caper like it says on the cover.
I agree with another reviewer that said Paul Giamatti was the strongest character. It's unfortunate that he's not featured at the climax, where the big duplicity is revealed, because he was the most entertaining to watch.
