In the Electric Mist
No One Can Escape The Sins Of The Past
Academy Award winner Tommy Lee Jones leads an all-star cast in this psychological thriller based on the bestselling novel by James Lee Burke.
While investigating a series of grisly murders, veteran detective Dave Robicheaux (Jones) navigates his way through the Louisiana bayou and the dark, sultry world of New Orleans mobster "Baby Feet" Balboni (John Goodman). Layers of corruption and long-dead secrets reawaken grudges and a lethal alliance. A tangled web of killings, past and present, converges in a shocking showdown with stakes that become deeply personal to Robicheaux and his family.
Featuring music from five-time Grammy Award-winner Buddy Guy, this film takes you deep into Cajun country's hidden worlds.

If it wasn't for Tommy Lee Jones, I probably would've given it 2 stars. As some of the other reviews stated, the film never really went anywhere. Too many plots were stuffed into this film and we, the audience, never really got closure at the end. The acting was great by Jones, but In the Electric Mist is not a movie I would watch again.loved it - windsnow40
I see this has not been very popular. I look tommy lee, and thought it was a good watch. ok, maybe I had nothing else to do and watched it alone. but, it had some good elements. always good when the good guy goes a little crazy and his weaknesses show - tommy is good at thatBaffling - revsdd
I have to be honest and admit that this movie did basically nothing for me except baffle me completely. It's burdened with a plot that revolves around the mysterious murders of several young women, which then gets linked to the discovery of a body over 40 years old. The story never really seems to make much sense, especially when Robicheaux (played by Tommy Lee Jones) starts having his conversations with Confederate General John Bell Hood (I never really did figure that out.) Jones was OK in his role, although I thought he was really starting to show his age here. Horribly miscast was John Goodman as Julie "Baby Feet" Balboni, who I guess is supposed to be some sort of local mob figure. I simply didn't think Goodman worked in this role, although I'll admit that just could be because I'm not much of a John Goodman fan. Somewhere in the mix appeared Justina Machado as an FBI agent, although I never really did understand what the FBI was involved in, which could mean simply that my attention kept wandering from the screen. If it was explained, though, I missed it completely. Fortunately, this is a fairly short movie, so you won't waste too much of your life on it.
