State of Play
Academy Award-winner Russell Crowe leads an all-star cast, including Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams & Helen Mirren in the gripping thriller about deception, manipulation & corruption.
When D.C. Reporter Cal McCaffrey (Crowe) is assigned to investigate the murder of an assistant to an up-and-coming politician (Affleck), he uncovers a conspiracy that threatens to bring down the nation's power structures. In a town of spin-doctors and wealthy power brokers, he will discover one truth: when fortunes are at stake, no one's integrity, love or life is safe.
From director Kevin Macdonald of The Last King of Scotland, State of Play brings together strong performances, riveting suspense and is "sophisticated, intelligent and powerful" (Shawn Edwards, Fox-TV).

Good acting by Russel Crowe - usernameya
Russel Crowe makes the film I would say. It's nice to see actor make characters believable and not just "a role". The story itself is pretty good but nothing too memorable. A good film to see if you can't think of anything else to watch. Also, on Blu-ray, the quality is just amazing. They take out the grain (for the most part) and leave a very polished looking movie.a bit rushed at the end - JOE52
This was a good movie but not a great movie. I think that the producer used about 1h45 to place the intrigue and use 10 minutes to solve it. It was too rush. Russel Crowe had no clue of what was going on and then...boom he understands it all. I like the acting of Russell Crowe.
C'est un bon film mais la fin a ete un peu ''garoche''. Russel Crowe livre une bonne performance.Well written and good acting - Sports
I really enjoyed the movie adaptation of the BBC television drama. The updating of the subject matter improved the relevance without loosing any of the impact of the original. Crowe is great in the role, giving his usual high quality performance without the vanity of most lead Hollywood actors. The Direction is tight, coupled with the top tier casting of all the supporting roles, makes the movie gripping from start to finish. The Blu-ray both looked and sounded great and added to enjoyable viewing experience.
