Adoration
Adoration speaks to our connections: with each other, with our family history, with technology and with the modern world. Sabine, a high school French teacher, gives her class a translation exercise based on a real news story about a terrorist who plants a bomb in the airline luggage of his pregnant girlfriend.

Assigned to translate a terrorism-related news story for his French class, teen Simon weaves personal details into his tale, which soon leaves the Internet swirling with rumors that Simon's dead father was an actual terrorist. Acclaimed auteur Atom Egoyan's haunting and lyrical drama -- cleverly structured as a mystery -- also stars Scott Speedman as Simon's caretaker uncle and Arsinée Khanjian as Simon's persistent teacher.Egoyan is Still on Top - MovieProf
I saw this one just after watching “Chloe,” the 2009 thriller by Atom Egoyan. I was worried that he had abandoned the style that has made him so famous: disjointed storylines, secretive characters, twists and turns at the end, prejudice and intolerance and so on. Thankfully, “Adoration,” released just a year earlier than “Chloe,” proved me wrong.
As usual, the plot is as twisted as it gets. Urged on by his French teacher Sabine, Simon, a young high school student undertakes a drama project that re-imagines his father as a Palestinian terrorist. At the same time, Sabine herself has a close, personal connection to Simon’s father. Simon is also being raised by his uncle Tom, who is struggling financially. Throw in the fact that Simon’s grandfather (Tom’s father), on his last legs in the hospital, is as racist as they come, and has tried his best to fill Simon’s head full of lies about the true identity of his father.
By the end, everything shown on the screen has a purpose. That’s the true genius of Egoyan: the viewer has to work hard enough just to get the story straight, and the random images that often bombard us eventually come into focus and present a deeper meaning to the film. “Adoration” is a strong film, even though it lost out (absurdly) to “Passchendaele” for the top Canadian film of 2008.Engrossing & Unique - Kliner
Adoration is a gripping film. Director Atom Egoyan has taken the structure of a mystery, thriller (one with an edited chronology) and infused said structure with a powerful family drama. With the additional observations of technology and it's affects on our notion of 'truth', Adoration is an incredibly acted and engrossing story.
