The Hurt Locker
You don't have to be a hero to do this job. But it helps.
War is a drug. Nobody knows that better than Staff Sergeant James, head of elite squad of soldiers tasked with disarming bombs in the heat of combat. To do this nerve-shredding job, it's not enough to be the best: you have to thrive in a zone where the margin of error is zero, think as diabolically as a bomb-maker, and somehow survive with your body and soul intact. Powerfully realistic, action-packed, unrelenting and intense, The Hurt Locker has been hailed by critics as "an adrenaline-soaked tour de force" (A.O. Scott, The New York Times) and "one of the great war movies." (Richard Corliss, Time)

I guess it was more of a personal preference thing, but I found this film to be a little slow. I thought it was a little unrealistic how they let the main character behave (I feel like in the army, they wouldn't allow someone to be so reckless). I felt some parts dragged. I can appreciate how people view this as a good film, it just wasn't for me.RAW, RIVITTING AND REAL - zipBUDDY
Rivitting, raw, bloody and real. Have not been to war but I would think that this was a realistic portrail of a few soldiers experience in the Iraqi war zone. How does one return home and lead a "normal" life after the horrors that are war? Couldn't take my eyes away from the screen for entire duration. It's not really the action, but the main character that drew me in - mkd1263
So the action and suspense was all here, as in any war movie but I thought the main character was written very well. It's something that people don't really think about, when you have lived through the 'rush' of war, is it enough to come back to a 9-5 job, watch movies at home with the family and make dinner, etc? Can you really go from living at 150 miles an hour to ordiniary everyday life? I took that away from the movie and that question stuck with me more than anything from the movie.
