A bimbo pride teen comedy whose cheerleader girl entourage of shallow sexpots gets enlightened too, about how 'useful' and even entertaining smart geeks with tons of brainy information to spare can be, even if totally lacking in hunk appeal. The script by Larry Doyle, based on his novel, has some smart flashes, and a few of the young performers resemble real people and not the usual prefab teen idols. Not very funny - Buffy
This movie definitely lacked a substantial plot. The actors were not the best and the comedy fell flat at every joke...
It was quite interesting at the beginning when a geek/nerd professes his love at graduation day to the head cheerleader. All the while insulting everyone at his high school publicly. It never got funny not worth the watch...!Almost insulting how stupid this was... - BigT
Wow talk about a waste of 2 hours! I really disliked this movie at every level. I was NOT expecting much but this movie still managed to disappoint by a lot. I watched the trailer and I have expected a stupid comedy with some funny moments throughout. What I got was a stupid movie with a stupid storyline and some ridiculously stupid moments throughout. The main character is very hard to relate to and is beyond awkward (which I guess may be somewhat funny to a small portion of the population).
Usually with movies like this, you are waiting to see the pretty and popular girl see the unpopular boy in a different light because she simply never gave him the time of day before. Well, in this brilliant adaptation of every teen movie, the director proves time and time again, that our main character is neither lovable, nor cute, nor has Hayden's character been missing anything by ignoring him pretty much all her high-school life. He continually proves as the movie runs its slow course that he really is a bumbling idiot that deserves to be made fun of and to be the butt of all jokes.
Hayden's character is not at all adorable or likable either. She comes off as being brash, naive, very strong willed and borderline daredevil, yet none of us can understand why she's still stuck with her army brat boyfriend (especially since she doesn't have issues telling him off). I really felt this movie almost insults our intelligence. Extremely disappointing and not worth the rental. Teen comedy (that's heavy enough on the sexual innuendo to not really make it a teen movie). Considering that, there are MUCH funnier movies out there.
I hated you, Beth Cooper and the rest of your cast!
