This is basically a bad James Bond movie with Team GI Joe substituting for Bond and and a much more active MI6.
The filmmakers could have gone completely fantastic or realistic and they decided for some reason to try to do both. The result is beyond ridiculous with numerous attempts at some vaguely realistic sounding gobbledygook with numerous complete disregards of the laws of physics (as well as things like military protocol and the like). Just a little more attention to the script might have helped at least that aspect.
Unfortunately much of the CGI looks like it's from an animated film and not from a major, big budget blend of live action and CG animation. Hole sections of the film look like a cartoon, which begs the question, why not just make a cartoon?
What actually gets up on screen is definitely one of the weakest Hollywood blockbusters I have seen.Ok hollywood Acion Movie - udet
This movie has a lot of plot holes and really isn't that inventive in moving the story along, however the action scenes are well done although seem to copy other action movies. Certainly setting it self to be a franchise, with it leaving lots of room to move in to a sequel.Fantastic for "Joe" Fans! - ElizabethBryant
As a child of the 80's, I was a HUGE G.I. Joe fan. I waited in great anticipation for this film. And I was not disappointed.
Granted, the acting is not exactly Oscar caliber, but that is not what you are looking for when you go to see a G.I. Joe movie. You want nice looking characters and non-stop action. You also want a clear battle of good vs. evil. That's exactly what you get here.
Incredible special effects and really cool pseudo-futuristic high-tech gatgetry are the high points. I personally couldn't wait to see what technology they were going to use from scene to scene! And the fight sequences were flawless.
Oh, and a very nice touch..having the gunfighting sound exactly like that of the TV show!
Overall, a must see for any G.I. Joe fan but a great film for any action buff.
