Nightwatching
Uncover the mystery behind Rembrandt's masterpiece
In 1642 famous Dutch artist Rembrandt (Martin Freeman) reluctantly agrees to paint the Amsterdam Musketeer Militia in a group portrait, a portrait that would become his most celebrated painting — The Nightwatch. Going about his work, Rembrandt discovers that there is conspiracy afoot after a man is shot dead during routine musket practice. Determined to bring these conspiracies to light, the artist builds his accusation meticulously in the form of the commissioned painting itself.

Like other Peter Greenaway films, Nightwatching is a delicious visual smorgasbord. If you have enjoyed other Greenaway films like "The Cook the Thief His Wife and Her Lover", you'll appreciate this moving painting. Each and every scene feels like a trip to a gallery full of Rembrandt paintings. Enjoy!NotWatching - Prof_Stubbs
I spent 30 minutes giving this movie a chance. Save your time. From my 30 minute viewing it appeared to be filmed as if someone was having a bad dream. A lot of overtalking each other's lines. Filmed on a stage with lighting set to night, even when the artist is painting. hmmm. The characters are less than likable, and the story line uninteresting, in short a waste of time.
