Songs in Ordinary Time
Based on the Best-Selling Novel, An Oprah Book Club Selection
Based on the best-selling novel, Songs in Ordinary Time is a riveting emotional drama starring Academy Award-winner Sissy Spacek (1980, Actress in a Leading Role, Coal Miner's Daughter) and three-time Emmy Award-winner Beau Bridges.
Is she opening her heart to love or harboring a criminal? That is the question divorcee Marie Fermoyle (Spacek) finds herself asking when smooth-talking con man Omar Duvall (Bridges) seduces his way into her family. Barely surviving from paycheck to paycheck and determined to send her daughter to college, Marie is an easy target for someone offering a business opportunity that will make them wealthy. But the more Omar promises, the more lies she and her children uncover, until Marie discovers the value of what she already has.

Interesting story, but lacking a strong ending. - 1writer
Sissy Spacek and Beau Bridges do a great job playing their roles in this interesting story. Although it is an interesting story it feels a bit anti-climactic at the end. There is a bit of mystery throughout the film and I did want to know how it would turn out in the end. I wasn't completely satisfied when it did end though, it felt as if it was a bit lacking. I have not read the book that this movie is based on, but I have a feeling it is more powerful than the film.
