An American Carol
From David Zucker, the director of The Naked Gun and Airplane! comes a bare-knuckle comedy where no one is safe from the onslaught of lunacy. When obnoxious Hollywood director Michael Malone organizes a "Ban the 4th of July" campaign, his efforts are upended by a gang of spirits from America's past. Zucker roasts a herd of sacred cows in this latest parody featuring an all-star cast

Every parody is a potential disaster… and this one lived up to its full potential. The magic of a good parody lies in milking reality for all its humor and then “spicing” it up with a little exaggeration.
The concept was sound. After all, no one is more deserving of a cynical roasting that Michael Moore. But this movie plays on overused stereotypes, witless slapstick, and situations so over-the-top that they just aren’t funny.
You might look at all the big names in the credits and decide to give it a try but it's just a trap. The biggest names (James Woods and Dennis Hopper) play small, pointless roles. They are the smoke and mirrors that make you think you're getting movie magic when it’s all just a cheap trick.
