You Never Know Who's Watching
There are an estimated 30 million surveillance cameras in the United States. On any given day, the average American is captured approximately 200 times. Every one of us is constantly being observed at our jobs, on the street, while shopping, and sometimes even in our own homes. Every one of our secrets, lies, crimes and most private moments are all being recorded. But who is watching us? Look is an award-winning drama from writer/director Adam Rifkin that takes the ultimate look at our 'Big Brother' world.

Look!! It's Bad! - MonkeyKing
Look is a poorly written, poorly directed, and conveniently directed "expose" of the overwhelming presence of surveillance in our lives. It's unfortunate, as the concept is one that could have been used to provide commentary on big brother in society, and it's uses for good or bad.
What we get instead, is a 105 minute collection of conveniently staged shots from a downward angle with identifier code used to provide nearly
every "shock and appall" theme possible. Paedophilia, check. Adultery, check. Gay adultery, check. Sex in the workplace, check. Bullying, check. Sexual assault with a minor, check. The only thing we're missing is incest, which I'm assuming was just left on the cutting room floor.
As a whole, the movie is lacking. It provides no real insight into the prevalence of surveillance, nor into the actual advantages or
disadvantages therein. Take away the identifier code on the footage, and what you have is little more than a poorly written, poorly created B film.Unwatchable - eoguy
It's almost cliche to start a review this way, but there are very few movies I abandon mid-point, but this was one of them. I just couldn't take it any more.
The concept of having a movie all done with security cameras sounds interesting until you realize they're using regular movie cameras just fuzzed up and "enhanced" with little glitches to make scenes supposedly authentic. But the terrible acting pretty much ruins all potential authenticity.
The story runs at a snail's pace and winds up being pretty thin. Ultimately it ends up being just a bunch of segments all thrown out there and they're supposed to add up to multiple stories, but nothing really works.
Some people have compared this to an Altman film, though it really recalled Mike Figgis' Timecode to me. However, this film doesn't extend beyond being a simple gimmick, unlike Timecode.
