Inglourious Basterds
An Inglorious, Uproarious Thrill-Ride of Vengeance
Brad Pitt takes no prisoners in Quentin Tarantino's high-octane WWII revenge fantasy Inglourious Basterds. As war rages in Europe, a Nazi-scalping squad of American soldiers, known to their enemy as "The Basterds," is on a daring mission to take down the leaders of the Third Reich. Bursting with "action, hair-trigger suspense and a machine-gun spray of killer dialogue" (Peter Travers, Rolling Stone), Inglourious Basterds is "another Tarantino masterpiece" (Jake Hamilton, CBS-TV)!

Typical Tarantino's film - SuperBamBam
I saw this film and I enjoyed it. The film definitely isn’t for everyone, and it is quite graphically violent in parts. Then again, it is a Tarentino's film, what do people expect? I thought it was worth commenting though, that inspite of seeing people beaten to death with baseball bats, scalped and mutilated, these were not the most disturbing scenes in the film. I actually thought they were quite tame compared to the scenes with the “Jew Hunter.”. That I think was the stand out creepy scenes in the film that the straight forward violence made a nice break from! Overall, if you can stomach it, it is a good film, that depicts the evils of war and the depravity of man very well. I would recommend it with the obvious cautions about knowing what you are getting yourself into.Imaginative Sadism - Leah_J.
Anyone choosing to watch this film will likely have an idea of what they're in for with Quentin T. Under the direction of this very skilled film maker with a truly original mind, the movie is out there, fascinating, and holds you throughout. Although a fantasy, the texture and period realism of the film evoke believability. The performances are superb. The contrast between good and evil is often so black and white as to verge on absurd characterization but then, if you want to watch sadistic torture, graphic murder, and vicious, indiscriminate violence, and consider yourself justified feeling good about it, go ahead. That's disturbing too.If only it had been this easy - Kobzar
Anyone who thinks a historically based story needs to stick to history had better not waste their time on this film. For everyone else, it will be an unforgettable experience in creative storytelling. What other screenwriter would even dare write a 10-minute scene for today's ADD audiences that are programmed to expect a scene change every 2 or 3 seconds for the movie to hold their attention. But watch these two secenes (one comes at the very beginning, and the other is the one in the underground tavern) and marvel how the storyteller keeps you glued to the screen, while building the tension to unbearable levels, even though virtually nothing is happening overtly, and with dialogue that is nothing short of brilliant. Try doing that yourself, my friend, and you will know what storytelling is. Every film should push the envelope, push the bounds of storytelling, and this one certainly does. Heck, it even tells you where the chapter breaks are, but the story itself is so well handled that you hardly notice them. This is fine, creative storytelling, and the actors buy into it completely, giving wonderful performances while knowing full well that none of this ever happened.
