When our world ended, their mission began.
From visionary filmmakers Tim Burton (The Nightmare Before Christmas) and Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted) and Academy Award-nominated director Shane Acker comes this visually stunning and original epic adventure. In the final days of humanity, a dedicated scientist gives the spark of life to nine of his creations. The world has turned into an unrecognizable landscape of machines and spare parts, but this group of nine finds that if they band together, their small community might just be able to change the course of history. Featuring the voice talents of Elijah Wood, John C. Reilly, Jennifer Connelly and Crispin Glover, it's a thrilling, suspenseful story critics call "Spellbinding!." (Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times)

A very odd movie - Nikki
I saw this in the theater. I know I'd seen an add for it, but I guess I didn't know what I was going to see.
All in all, I found the film ridiculous and over indulgent, as so many of Tim Burton's films are. Sure the visuals were nice, but in this age of CGI, who cares?9 gets an 8 (out of 10) - ngwoo
9 is a weird little movie. On one hand, you have a relatively mature post-apocalyptic setting with a really dark tone, and a rather adult storyline to match. On the other hand, you have cute characters and a more or less kid-friendly ending. Most reviews say that this one is not for kids, and that's correct, but it doesn't seem like it's for adults either.
"Doesn't this make it bad?", you may ask. Surprisingly, no. What you end up with is an entertaining movie with fantastic visuals that anyone can enjoy (maybe even your kids if they're into this kind of thing). Even if you find yourself unable to appreciate the story or setting the visuals alone make this an experience, one that I highly recommend you check out on Blu-Ray if you are able.
Not the animated movie of the year by any stretch, but completely able to hold its own. I recommend it.Visually impressive - JayA
I enjoyed this film a lot, and most of that was just taking in all the visuals. It looked amazing. I'm not a person who really enjoys modern animated features and finds most of them terribly dull. This one kept me much more interested and enthralled by the look of almost everything going on. It is dark, and I liked that, but it's not a kids movie, unless your kid is Harold from Harold and Maude.
