Wonderful documentary! - estefan
Fascinating documentary on the Australian grindhouse scene, precisely detailing the madness that went into making these films. With insightful comments from the likes of George Miller, John Seale and Quentin Tarantino, the enthusiasm of the interviews just leaps of the screen to the point of wanting to seek some of these out. The editing also deserves a mention for telling the story of Ozploitation in a way that it never gets repetitive and it never once falls into back-slapping praise. Mark Hartley is smart at looking at the cinema honestly, while still with the necessary affection. This is definitely a must-see, especially if you're a fan of the joyful quality of B-grade, anything-goes pictures.Wholesome fun for the whole family (JUST KIDDING) - MrMoviePicker
Rather than endure a massive volume of largely crappy exploitation films from Australia, you can rent this fun doc and get enough jokes, quirky characters, and snippets of nudity and violence to fill a dozen plot-less features.
And, bonus! The fact that this is a documentary means that you just might learn something important about Aussie culture, so you don't have to feel quite as guilty about all the unwholesome pleasures on offer.
Score: 7 out of 10.
