Law Abiding Citizen
Justice at Any Cost
Clyde Shelton (Gerard Butler) is an upstanding family man whose wife and daughter were brutally murdered during a home invasion. When the killers are caught, Nick Rice (Jamie Foxx), a hotshot young Philadelphia prosecutor, is assigned to the case. Against his will, Nick is forced to offer one of the suspects a light sentence in exchange for testifying against his accomplice.
Fast forward ten years. The man who got away with murder is found dead and Clyde Shelton coolly admits his guilt. Then he issues a warning to Nick: either fix the flawed justice system, or key players in the trail will die. Soon Shelton follows through on his threats, orchestrating from his jail cell a string of spectacularly diabolical assassinations that can be neither predicted nor prevented. Nick finds himself in a desperate race against time facing a deadly adversary who always seems to be one step ahead.

This movie does have an irksome predictability about it, leading to a disappointing finale of pursuit similar to a thousand other movies. This film hasn’t developed the desired ability to massage the ideal amount of complication out of the screenplay, and while passably engaging and even semi-poignant, it just doesn’t contain the urgency to sufficiently rouse the senses.Great great script - tinmar
This movie is well written. Period. It makes you angry, sad and raises some great questions about the American Justice System. (Not that there isn't plenty already but Gerard Butler's rant at his bail hearing is worth the price of admission alone.) The creepiest thing about this film is that Gerard Butler's character is supposed to be the villain but he has such a good point you can't help but agree with his actions for part of it. And then he goes to far and you feel horrible for thinking that way.
What a great film that it can do that to you.A++++++++++++ - travellerjade
Loved this movie! The whole concept is brilliant, although a tad far fetched. Great for anyone who loves to stick it to the man. An alternate ending would have been welcomed, although it did finish quite well. I can't stop thinking about this movie and how incredible it was! The writing is brilliant, as is the plot! Gerard Butler does a great job! Rent this movie, you will not be disappointed.
