Ninja Assassin
The filmmakers behind The Matrix and V for Vendetta bring new blood (lots of it!) to martial arts movies in Ninja Assassin. Korean pop star Rain (Speed Racer) stars as heroic, deadly Raizo. Trained from childhood in the way of the Ozunu Clan ninja, he is stalked by fellow warriors for breaking free of them and their iron-willed dojo patriarch (martial arts legend Sho Kosugi) - and is on the run with a Europol agent (Naomie Harris) who has proof the clan sells assassination services to governments. The action is start-to-finish - fast, fierce, filled with weaponry (chains, swords, staffs, shuriken) and awesome athleticism. Fear not the weapon, but the hand that wields it.

Yes, there will be blood - RobBC
When a pair of Europol agents start investigating rumors of secret ninja clans they get more action than they bargained for. It seems these highly trained “families” have existed for thousands of years, supporting themselves by providing ruthless assassins to anyone able to pay their exorbitant price; and they’ll do anything...anything...to keep their existence hidden. As the agents get closer to the truth they are targeted for extermination but help arrives at the last minute in the form of a renegade ninja master who proves to be the only thing standing between them and a very messy demise. Quite simply, "Ninja Assassin" is the best film of this genre I’ve ever witnessed. The action is non-stop, the cinematography breathtaking and the frenzied fight scenes have to be seen to be believed. Throw credibility out the window though, this is pure martial arts fantasy with spinning bodies and flying cutlery giving rise to a virtual smorgasbord of gruesomely imaginative deaths. A wonderfully realized thriller that grabs you from the beginning and never lets go until the houselights come up.Fanstastic But Bloody - movienut1
I'd consider this one of the best if not *the* best Ninja movies I've seen in quite a few years. I'm a huge fan of this genre but, based on the reviews you can read here, was almost reluctant to watch this movie when it arrived. However while it does set a new standard for blood and gore it treats that part of the story (the hack and slash) with a stylized honor I quickly grew to respect.
This is a fantasy - this is not a real life story.
While thick with blood and gore (over the top during many moments to be honest) the movie does not glorify the violence but, in a strange way, for the most part pays it the respect it's due. This is a movie about the top ninjas fighting the top ninjas and the fight scenes would be comical without the gore in my opinion.
But it's stylized gore akin to what you'll see in a cartoon flick. From moment one you'll become desensitized to the splatter and then get to appreciate what I'd consider one of the best Ninja flicks currently out there. The acting and story is top notch with A list production values not to mention fight scene special effects that completely blew me away.
An easy 5 out 5 in my book and a BluRay I'll buy the moment I see it on sale.Awesome Ninja Action - venus2976
I saw this movie in the theatre and loved every minute of it. I wasn't there for a deep involving story, I saw the previews and wanted action... and the movie delivered on that promise right from the opening scene. But considering the movie has Ninja and Assassin in the title which is redundant and don't take this movie seriously.
With only a few corny dialogue scenes, this movie shines with the over-the-top action and lotsa blood! It's fluff and it's fun.
