Downloading Nancy
Albert (Rufus Sewell) comes home from work one day to find a note from his wife Nancy (Maria Bello) saying she has gone to see friends. After waiting several days, Albert realizes that his wife is missing. Nancy has met her salvation on the Internet in the form of Louis (Jason Patric). Nancy and Louis take comfort in one another through e-mail, pictures, and promises of perverse sexual encounters. Nancy has finally found the one and only thing that can liberate her from the pain in her life. While she pursues the freedom that she feels will only come with ultimate liberation, Albert is left to put the pieces together and try to salvage what is left.

Don't be fooled by the write-up, this is not a movie about a poor man left by his wife. It is so much more complicated than that. Don't expect this to be a happy ending movie, and it's not a tearjerker either - none of the characters are likeable enough for you to feel sorry for them. But it is an unflinching portrayal of a woman in a lot of emotional pain, and it will certainly make you think.Beautiful Bummer - Big_J
This movie put me in a bad mood for about 3 days... that being said it is a pretty great film. It is sort of like watching an episode of intervention on steroids though - tragic beyond words. The filming and sets are brutally realistic so much so that you'll forget you are even watching a movie and the acting is fantastic. Even a few days later I am still haunted by the story in this film... so if you don't wanna get bummed out then don't bother however if you don't mind a little tragedy try this one out - it is pretty damn good.Downloading The Viewer - c4th
I guess I should have thought more about the meaning behind this movie’s title. Downloading Nancy sets an emotional baseline as low as it can and never rises above that. Ultimately, that is its downfall. How do you stir emotions in your viewers when there are no uplifting moments or even the faintest glimmer of hope to serve as contrast? How can the viewer fully appreciate the lows if they never experience the decline that takes one there?
If you watch movies in the hope of seeing magnificent acting performances then you may enjoy Maria Bello’s brilliant portrayal of a housewife tainted by childhood abuse stuck in a loveless marriage but be forewarned that it is a very bleak tale picturing deep, deep despair.
