The Girl In The Park
A mother's love never dies.
Sigourney Weaver and Kate Bosworth star in the gripping saga of a successful business woman whose life is torn apart after the mysterious disappearance of her young daughter. Sixteen years after the abduction, Julia is still haunted by the loss when she meets Louise, an eerily familiar, but unstable, young woman in need of a place to stay. Powered by "phenomenal lead performances" (Reel Reed Reviews), this film is intense, authentic and completely unpredictable.

This movie is one that I have watched many times, I'd say this movie is for those who want to watch something full of suspense, drama and questions.
The movie was well done by the various actors and actresses and it's obvious that a lot of research was prepared before the final publication of the movie - such as the emotions to do with bereavement, not knowing the truth and not being able to let go of the past.
It's well worth a watch!The surrogate mother - luminol
The title suggested a huge melodramatic conclusion or some scam involving a twist ending; however the film is a rather simple, stripped down, dramatic tale about a woman coming to grips with a difficult past.
It was easy to believe that Julia (Sigourney Weaver) would accept the great promotion and return home, after all---it's been 16 years already. It's all water under the bridge. The poor woman: why would anyone want to deliberately live in the waffle capital of the world? :) Julia had gotten a certain semblance of a life back; become successful in her career. However returning to NYC was more overwhelming and destabilizing than she could have ever thought. The past rushes back with a vengeance. Alienating the last tenuous thread she has with her past life; that of her son and his young family. All the others have written her off as a broken woman with a life frozen in a single moment.
This is Sigourney's show. The supporting cast is good, but it does beg the question: why don't excellent actors like Elias Koteas and Kate Bosworth get more meatier roles?
Likes? Julia's daughter had a single distinguishing feature and one that was easily verifiable, but she couldn't bear to ask the question, for obvious reasons. Louise was also blindly searching for someone in her past and upon reflection, her one act of emotional dishonesty may have been simple need to get closer to her rather than a deliberate attempt to deceive. The film uses the neat trick of distancing; having characters discuss her actions in parallel scenes or visually separating her from the others makes Julia's hold on reality appear more tenuous and fragile.Perfect Mix of Drama and Mystery - c4th
The Girl In The Park provides the perfect mix of drama and mystery to appeal to a wide range of viewers. David Auburn does a magnificent job of continually surprising us with unexpected turns in this story about a mother pained by loss and guilt.
Julia Sandberg loses her three year old daughter, Maggie, during a day at the park. Sixteen years later she encounters a down and out young lady named Louise who needs a place to stay. She takes her in and as the two begin forming a mother-daughter type bond, elements of Louise’s past begin surfacing, which suggest she may be Julia’s long-lost Maggie. Julia keeps looking for that one confirming piece of evidence amidst the concerns of friends and family.
Near perfect performances by Sigourney Weaver and Kate Bosworth are huge ingredients contributing to the quality of this movie. This is the meatiest role in which I’ve seen Bosworth and she impressed me to the nth degree. This is a far cry from her early-career performances in Blue Crush or Win a Date With Tad Hamilton. Weaver pulls off a convincing transformation from young mom to middle aged women.
This is a superb movie that everyone should see. Drama fans will love the human dynamics and wonderful acting performances. Mystery buffs and thrill seekers will be engaged by its psychological bend.
