Nine is a vibrant and provocative musical that follows the life of world famous film director Guido Contini (Daniel Day-Lewis) as he reaches a creative and personal crisis of epic proportion, while balancing the numerous women in his life including his wife (Marion Cotillard), his mistress (Penélope Cruz), his film star muse (Nicole Kidman), his confidant and costume designer (Judi Dench), a young American fashion journalist (Kate Hudson), the whore from his youth (Stacy "Fergie" Ferguson) and his mother (Sophia Loren).

I liked only 5 minutes of this movie - Nadia23
Not worth watching. Catch Kate Hudson's performance on YouTube (the only performance worth watching). The movie itself is confusing and portrays women as needy and dependant. The actors seem bored/not passionnate... Daniel Day Lewis seems as depressed as his character... No light in him at all - no acting spark. I don't get the Oscar nominations... It's pretty, indeed, but that's it!

Nine what? This is the impression that this movie has left on my mind. My mind was also wondering a lot while I was watching it as I kept reflecting at certain parts of my life, and do not get me wrong my life has nothing to with a film directors sexual prowess. There were some interesting musical performances done by several dancers. I did not particularly enjoy the solo dance of Penelope Cruz. This movie probably won so many awards to the fact that it made many of the Academy voters reflect on their own successes and failures.Guido needs to keep his women in line - MikeHiscoe
Nine depicts the strife of a popular Italian filmmaker whose life revolves around his relationships with many different women. It's a story of a tortured artist who needs to have a messed up life in order to have material for his work. The music is presented as kind of a show within the show, with the songs being performed on a stage to an empty theatre. You won't be humming any of these numbers the next day but everything is presented really well and it's definitely worth a watch if you enjoy musicals.
