Daybreakers
In 2019, the most precious natural resource... is us.
Two-time Academy Award nominee Ethan Hawke plays Edward Dalton, a researcher in the year 2019, in which an unknown plague has transformed the world's population into vampires. As the human population nears extinction, vampires must capture and farm every remaining human, or find a blood substitute before time runs out. However, a covert group of vampires makes a remarkable discovery, one which has the power to save the human race.

I spent most of this movie trying to figure out what was the whole point of it so I will have trouble writing this review. It seems there is a group that goes after humans to suck all there blood and then feed vampires. But then one of the vampires succeed in reversing his vampirish curse, as if that has ever been possible in the vampire world. So at the end I almost fell asleep in a vampirish hipnotism.Surprisingly fun to watch - HalfBlackCanadian
I didn't know what to expect from this movie but found myself enjoying it quite a bit.
This is very much a film that could do well with a tie-in graphic novel (or a few) as the story seems rushed at times (they move along quickly for pacing but also have to set up a lot of information that the audience cannot exactly take for granted).
Teeters on the edge of being a b-movie, but the production values and talent save it from that fate.Surprisingly good. - dnlm
I enjoyed this movie. I was initially dubious - not generally a fan of the vampire/horror genre - but was pleasantly surprised at the plot and the acting. In a world where a virus and self preservation has forced most of the population to become vampires, humans are hunted and farmed for blood. Ethan Hawke does an admirable job as a vampire scientist searching for a cure as blood supplies dwindle and society begins to deteriorate to its basest form. The story was engaging and the action was exciting. Very enjoyable. Worth watching.
