Young Kirra (Bindi Irwin) leaves her Australian home to summer with her grandfather (Beau Bridges) in South Africa, she soon discovers a baby orca stranded in the lagoon near her grandfather's rundown seaside amusement park. She names the lonely whale Willy - and embarks on a quest to lead the little guy back to his anxious pod before her grandfather's greedy rival turns Willy into a captive, moneymaking attraction at his slick theme park.

Nice for the children - imagination201
But unlike its predecessors, it is getting more childish and less for the whole family. I was also disappointed to find out that the underwater scenes are almost always CGI instead of actual footage of orca pods. The story, though, is cute, rather reminiscent of the first movie, and the characters are interesting.
THere is the question of whether they will manage to help the orca or not, which is always good in this series, so all in all, it's an okay direct to DVD movie for children.Free Willy 4: Escape from Pirate's Cove - oldmovies
. Never remembered it being in the theatres. We put it on for the kids and it held their interest and peaked ours so we ended up starting the movie over. This movie was even more enjoyable than we thought it would be. Thinking was that Free Willy may have been over for sequels. Never remembered it being in the theatres. We put it on for the kids and it held their interest and peaked ours so we ended up starting the moveie over. It is definately worth a watch.
