I LOVED this movie!! Aaron Johnson is an incredible actor (he totally should have gotten the role in the new spider-man movie). I never cry during movies, but I nearly cried during several scenes. The movie is just that "real"; the emotions are so powerful.
I loved the dynamic between John Lennon and Paul McCartney, how they grew to be friends.John Lennon, "The Beatles" 101 - KoJa
Being a fan of John and The Beatles' music stirred an interest when I came across the synopsis to this movie. I realized I really don't know much about where they all started and who John was.
This movie was both educational and entertaining and being able to have a glimpse of John pre-Yoko and know what a true genius this man is. Also, seeing how the young Paul came to befriend with John and even gave him guitar lessons. Just a great source of understanding the backstory of the legendary iconic John Lennon and his musical influences.Nowhere Boy Reveals A Lot - bwod
This movie, on the surface, is simply a docudrama about John Lennon's early life, before "The Beatles". What makes it watchable, is Aaron Johnson's uncanny performance as the young rebel, before he formed the most popular rock-group in history.
Burdened by the emotional train-wreck that was his mother Julia's life, and the cold treatment he received from Mimi, his aunt, it's no wonder that he was challenged to find something "normal" - an escape - in his music, poetry, and art.
Well worth a look, especially if you are curious about the legendary rocker. John Lennon will be remembered for more than his music. Maybe he really is bigger than Jesus?
