Georgia O'Keeffe
Star-studded movie about the famous artist! Her life was a work of art.
Celebrated photographer and art impresario Alfred Steiglitz (Jeremy Irons) is shocked to learn that the extraordinary drawings he has recently discovered were rendered by a woman. Deciding to display the work of then-unknown artist Georgia O'Keeffe (Joan Allen) in his gallery without her knowledge, the fiercely private artist orders him to remove the collection. Once Alfred convinces her to allow him to become her benefactor and to champion her artistry, their relationship evolves as they fall deeply in love. Alfred leaves his wife for Georgia, but soon finds her rising star is poised to eclipse his light. As their relationship suffers, Alfred finds twisted ways to emotionally wound her, including taking a younger lover. Georgia's search for solace moves her west, where she finds new inspiration for her paintings - and ultimately her own voice - in the New Mexico landscape.

Biographical Period Piece - WongFamily
I didn't enjoy it so much, but I feel that it was good for what it was trying to achieve. The other family members seemed to like it. I recommend it to those who like period pieces and biographies.
As far as acting quality goes, I felt that they all did a great job. I felt that they did such a good job, that there was never a time when I was distracted from the story or the issues of the story.
I lost a bit of respect for the characters, because they seemed to be morally loose, but I suspect that many viewers will not see it that way, and would probably enjoy the movie, and also respect the achievements of the characters.interesting story - billie
Interesting movie, but a lot of emphasis on her relationship with Steiglitz, which, while important in her life, was only a small part of it. She was a fabulously interesting and unique woman for any age, let alone the time she lived in. Independent, self-reliant, funny - the best way to learn about O'Keeffe is to read her words that accompany her paintings in art books. Her best works were treated quite superficially in this movie, and Irons got too much screen time, chewing the scenery and having fun. Joan Allen's portrayal was much quieter and more forceful as a result. Very real. I had not known she had a nervous breakdown as a result of Steiglitz's cruelty to her - but possibly if her life had gone more smoothly she would not have become the artist she was, so associated with New Mexico and the colours there.
definitely worth an evening's viewing especially if you know Ms O'Keefe and her work at all.Georgia O'Keefe is a four star movie - chuck12
What a delight it was to see two professional actors bring you right into the lives of Georgia O'Keefe and Alfred Steigliz. Not only was their portrails so breathtaking, but the story of their lives were indeed something to remember.
The unfolding of from Georgia's early twenty's when she is just an unkown artist painting oly for her own pleasure- follows her growth due to the guidance Alfred, until she is an international succesful painter, but her private life is not one of joy, abut only of acceptance.
