44 Inch Chest
How far would you go to avenge betrayal? Colin Diamond (Ray Winstone, Sexy Beast) is about to find out in this gritty, provocative thriller. After he breaks down over the dissolution of his marriage, he kidnaps his wife’s lover, and his rage pushes him to the brink of murder as his motley crew of buddies urges him to exact brutal revenge. Ian McShane (HBO’s Deadwood), John Hurt (V for Vendetta), Tom Wilkinson (RocknRolla) and Stephen Dillane (Spy Game) unforgettably co-star in this compelling story that contemplates the nature of love and asks what it takes to be a man.

Despite an excellent cast, I found this film to be boring almost beyond human endurance. It is a slight film thematically and its central conceit is stretched out to point where I completely lost interest. At 90 minutes it seems way too long.
Ian McShane is outstanding in his role in this film and was the biggest highlight for me.Well acted, but slow - thenewguy
44 Inch Chest follows Collin, a man who has just learned his wife is leaving him for another man. Collin calls in his close friends in an effort to kidnap the new lover and avenge the betrayal.
The film shows Collin's struggle with denial, sadness, anger, bargaining and his attempt to accept what has happened. Mostly this is done through his struggle with the choice of whether to kill his wife's new lover and the dialogue between Collin's friends.
The film is a bit abstract at times, showing Collin's dreams, day dreams and memories as he fights with himself and the life and death choice before him.
Though well written and very well acted, the pacing is slow and requires some patience, especially at the beginning.Don't miss the epilogues and extra features - Mano
I wasn't expecting much from this movie. I thought this will be yet another Guy Ritchie wannabe movie or Sexy Beast spin off without Sir Ben!!
I was very pleasantly surprised to see the take on character development ,tightly written script (albiet with typical East London's vulgar language) nad beautifully shot.
An excellent portrayal of a man's angst when love of his life leaves him for a younger man.
Don't miss the extra features in the DVD. I am amazed by the transition by the director from shooting commercials to a full length feature film. Son of deaf parents, from blue collar background with no formal high level education.....this man deserves the best in life.Good for him.
Casting directors also deserve kudos to get these top notch actors fully engaged in this film.
Perhaps bit too filled with dialogues...but then...what a brilliant piece of writing.
I hear the duo have split up....hope they do work together again though.
Terrific perfomance by all the lead actors. But then how can we expect anything less than superb perfomance from JohnHurt,Ray Winstone, Ina Mcshane.....
Hope it gets the recognition it truly deserves.
