Flashbacks of a Fool
Daniel Craig delivers a startling performance as Joe Scot, a washed-up Hollywood star adrift in a haze of sex, drugs and squandered fame. But when he receives news of the sudden death of his childhood best friend, Joe flashes back to his younger self (played by Harry Eden of Oliver Twist) in his small English seaside village and the summer of innocence and tragedy that would change his life forever. Olivia Williams (The Sixth Sense), Claire Forlani (CSI: NY) and Grammy Award Winner Eve co-star in this powerful drama about love, loss and one man's journey to redemption, executive produced by Daniel Craig and featuring songs by Scott Walker, David Bowie and Roxy Music.

Well done, Daniel Craig - crazyboutmovies
It is very nice to see what a fine actor Daniel Craig is; he certainly held his own in this company of fine actors.
Although billed as "flashbacks", I would have liked the movie to give the audience more of how returning home for his friend's funeral changed him. There is, I feel, not quite enough shown of Joe Scot's journey of redemption.A Wasted Life Flashes Through - Ilania
Director Baillie Walsh, who thus far did documentaries, tackles the life of the washed-out Hollywood Star Joe Scot (Daniel Craig). A man who is wasting himself with drugs flashes through his recollections since childhood, following a telephone call that advises him of the sudden death of his childhood/youth best friend "Boots". The film starts with an unnecessarily long sexual session of Daniel Craig (in impressive nakedness) with two young women. I do not know enough about the drug world to fathom this, cannot for the life of me understand why people would do this. A shorter filming of this scene would have been better. Yet we stayed with it and the rest of the film was very well done. The music chosen for the film is probably quite adequate, with David Bowie’s drug engendered pieces and other non-melodious oddly phrased songs. The performance by Harry Eden as the Teenage Joe Scot is commendable, so is the short appearance by Mark Strong, as Joe Scot’s agent and that of Eve who played Joe Scot’s house-assistant who actually wore various hats in Joe Scott’s life. Some of the casting was off, in particular at the last part of the movie Joe's mother, aunt, and teenage girlfriend, do not seem to have aged as did Joe Scot. Not what one would expect to see Daniel Craig in, but he has such a strong acting capacity and screen presence that it makes any part played by him memorable.
