Mother and Child
From writer-director Rodrigo Garcia (TV's Big Love, Nine Lives) and executive producer Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (Babel) comes the moving story of three women and the power of the unbreakable bond between mother and child. Three women's lives share a common core: the have all been profoundly affected by adoption. Karen (Annette Bening) placed a baby for adoption at age 14 and has been haunted ever since by the daughter she never knew. Elizabeth (Naomi Watts) grew up as an adopted child; she's a bright and ambitious lawyer, but a flinty loner in her personal life. Lucy (Kerry Washington) and her husband are just embarking on the adoption odyssey, hoping for the opportunity to become parents.

Annette Benning delivers a raving performance, thats unforgettable and mesmerizing!
Mother and Child is directed and written by Rodrigo García, with an interwoven storyline that has you crying, laughing and hoping for a miracle sometimes. The drama delivers big raves, and plenty of charm in ways you'd never expected. I loved this movie because it had soul and heart (both hard to accomplish). It's true You can't ever know what true suffering is until you experience real loss. Thier is nothing more beautiful than unconditional love, especially that between mother and child.Suprising - belle123
I was truly surprised by the storylines. It shows how the different tortured sides of motherhood and the decisions that women face on a daily basis. This movie shows the joy, the love and the heartache between the relationships of mother and child. It's the most powerful bond.A good premise but ... - L_MO
The first half of the film has promise portraying a woman tortured by her decision to give up her baby as a young teen. This seemed to have set the tone for her life. Her personality evolved into a kind of solitary soul being very antisocial and almost paranoid. It is obvious that her past has strained the relationship with her mother who seemed too intimidated by her own daughter to share her true feelings. She is given a kind of second chance after discovering she may have a grandchild from her estranged daughter many years later. After unfolding and setting up for what could have been a good story the film becomes somewhat formulaic. Hope through tragedy is powder sugar coated and somehow everyone lives happily ever after. Complicated relationships seem watered down and so does this movie. I give a recommended with reservations.
