This was pretty much what i expected, the acting was really good, the story was interesting enough but i thought they tried to do too much and therefore character development wasnt quite there as is often the case with ambitious period movies. The ending was a decent spectacle and the action wasnt gory (like it or not).
Refreshing that they bypassed the cliched abduction/ rescue of Robins girl. What's to like? - VINDICATOR
So I didn't HATE it, but that's not saying much.
First off, this is not the regular tale about Robin Hood that most know. It's BEFORE that chapter in his life. One keeps wondering if the movie will get to the Robin Hood that we know and love. It just gets worse.
'Maid Marian' is cast as a feminist, loud-mouth that rides horses the manly-way rather than the old-fashioned (and this is 12th century in the movie) way aka side-saddle.
The shaky-cam (than anyone with a cam could film) is sooooooooooo annoying!
Voice-overs really irritate.
Sometimes I couldn't even make out what they were saying! Mumbling, etc.
Poorly written & spoken/executed.
The Ridley Scott (must be a Mason or worse) ever-present penile monuments (in as many scenes as he can manage them) reminiscent of his GLADIATOR days.
The production value sucks.
I thought I might at least 'like' the movie, but there is so much bad with it only two stars it doth get.
Wasteth not too much time on this beast.Much better than expected - marzena
I also was not looking forward to watching this film, and usually when we have a movie I am not interested in, my husband watches it while I read. This time, I couldn't tear myself away from the screen. There was a good amount of action (for the guys) but also a very good story line (for the girls). It was definitely a pleasant surprise, a well-told story and great film overall.
