Coach
You can't score without taking a shot.
After being dumped by his girlfriend, Nick Scanlon (Hugh Dancy), an unemployed Manhattan slacker, realizes that coasting by on his bed-head charm won't get him very far. Motivated to win back his girl, he finds a job coaching a middle school soccer team down the block. But his new gig takes him in an unexpected direction as he falls for a beautiful young doctor named Gabrielle (Lianne Balaban). Now, with a blossoming romance and a team of lovable misfits under his wing, Nick begins to discover that growing up is more complicated than he ever thought possible.

Nick never really grew up. He has a trust fund and a great group of friends who allow him to avoid facing the world.
When his girlfriend leaves, he takes the leap and begins coaching a kid's soccer team - his first job.
This is an entertaining film. Nothing too deep or surprising, but a comfortable hour and a half if you're in the mood for something light. Not Oscar worthy, but still entertaining. - moviegenius
This was an entertaining movie. I thought that the story was good enough to keep me interested. It is not an Oscar winner, but it was still good enough to keep me watching the film. I liked the scenes with the kids. They were fun to watch. So, if you like watching soccer and watching interesting things happen, Coach might be a good movie for you to watch.coach - sauffialala
Coach" has the formulaic kids-teach-coach-how-to-succeed-in-life same old drivel written all over it. In addition, it never rises above.
Hugh Dancy plays Coach, built from the same old as Hugh Grant in "About A Boy". I like Hugh Dancy but even he is not able to make this film very likable. He stars as a rich trust-fund slacker, and when his girlfriend dumps him he realizes he needs to find a job to finally grow up. So he coaches kids soccer, where we find the usual misfit kids who he is able to bring together and they show him a thing or two about growing up. From the outset, he is a good coach but in the usual, lame way - this film did not add anything new or intelligent.
I was disappointed with the romantic comedy story line, as his love interest did not add any comedy, and her character was not redeeming in any way. Also very poorly cast (that girl is definitely not a doctor).
The other main problem with this film trying its hand at romantic comedy is that it alienates its audience. With the mild sexual content I don't think its meant for kids and most adults would want to go for something more intelligent. It would be suitable for teenagers but they aren't given any characters to relate to.
"Coach" ultimately does nothing wrong, but its very disappointing that they couldn't add any bit of originality or thought to this tired formula.
