Ajami
Oscar-nominated for Best Foreign Language Film, Ajami unfolds as a piercing, raw and powerful crime drama set against the volatile backdrop of Israel's Ajami neighbourhood, a cultural melting pot riddled with conflict between Jews, Muslims and Christians. Spread across five harrowing chapters, the film weaves together the experiences of a cross-section of the city's inhabitants, exploring the tragic consequences of enemies living as neighbours as it races toward its heart-stopping conclusion.

A bit difficult to follow... - Amateur
I have mixed feelings about Adjami. One of the reasons was that it was hard for me to follow due to my ignorance with regards to the Middle East culture presented in this film. In my opinion the film failed to put the viewer in context. However, it was interesting to learn more about this culture and the acting was relatively good.a good film, but has too many characters to follow - tbird
a good film but could have been trimmed down. if it delved deeper into one or two characters it could have been more powerful. it did jump around a lot from person to person.i did like how the film captured the environment of Israel. you do get a strong feeling of the place. not many films do that.Tough neighbourhood - anglophonequebec
This film follows a few characters, Israeli Arabs (Muslim and Christian), Palestinian illegals, Israeli Jews, drug gangs, police, all entangled in a tough tough neighbourhood. Ajami is littered with trash, and abandoned hope. There is dramatic tension caused by the partial vision of each narrative, and the five parts eventually connect what seem to be disjoint story lines. It is hard to find any uplift to save the situation. Any one who thinks that peace could break out in Palestine any time soon would need to watch this tough movie.
