Clive (Adrien Brody, Predators, King Kong) and Elsa (Sarah Polley, Dawn of the Dead, The Secret Life of Words) are scientist superstars, famous for splicing DNA from different animals to create bizarre hybrids. They are as in love with each other as they are with their work and they want to go the next step: splice human DNA. But when their corporate financiers refuse, they decide to experiment in secret. The result is Dren: an amazing creature whose rapid life cycle takes her from baby to adult in a matter of months. As Clive and Elsa struggle to keep Dren a secret, their connection to their creation evolves from scientific to personal. Ultimately, Dren exceeds the couple’s wildest dreams – and their most terrifying nightmares.

Creepy and Disturbing - DaxKP
I was totally disturbed by this movie, and that does not happen to me often. *mild spoiler alert* There are basically themes of incest and bestiality, which totally grossed me out. It is hard for me to comment on anything else with the movie, because all I can remember from it was the feeling of disgust it left me with.DREN - CaptainRhodes
Me? I liked it. (spoiler alert) I found the adult creature pretty hot as well so who can really blame Brody? Just saying.

Above all, it was Frankenstein but the beast was a sexy child with a poison tail instead of a lurching giant and it was built with DNA instead of electricity.
Splice achieved the unique twist of Frankenstein, that the monster was definitely sympathetic, but you still often wanted it dead, which is the secret shame of the viewer and triumph of the writer. In a way, it makes you love a monster and hate a child.
The scientists were portrayed convincingly, with their own twisted baggage, which was another central point, the mixing of godlike powers with the cesspool of human psychology.
The science was meh, with a few outright stupid parts, like the poison tail itself, and feathers that would appear and disappear.
There was some twisted parental stuff too.
As a male, I say 'Hey!' to how things turned really evil when they turned male.
It was definitely more about the twisted psychologies than just startling the audience with some splatter. But it didn’t bother to come to any conclusions.
