Cyrus
Seriously, stay off his mom.
John C. Reilly, Jonah Hill and Oscar Winner Marisa Tomei star in this quirky, hilarious story about love, family and cutting the cord. Not-so-recently divorced John (Reilly) thinks he's finally found the perfect woman when he meets the sweet and sexy Molly (Tomei). There's just one problem - Molly's son Cyrus (Hill) clings to his mom like lint on a T-shirt, and he's not about to let another man come between them. It's one hysterically awkward moment after another as John and Cyrus fight for the right to be Molly's #1 man.

This was little more funnier and interesting than I expected. The story goes more than the one family and follows how the relationship goes, it's more complicated than what it seems. And with the perfect actors together, it made it super funny at a time that I couldn't stop laughing.Mishmash of tones and genres - filmcmnt
The Duplass brothers are getting a lot of critical cred for movies like this and I'm keeping an open mind for the upcoming Jeff who Lives at Home. This movie, though, I found an utter slog, completely confused about whether it was a screwball genre comedy or whether it was some king of touching Sundance-type indie film. The musical score cloyingly punctuates scenes of Jonah Hill playing his sound-poems with maniacal eyes as if the scene is a tender touching dramatic moment. This is not a case of productively challenging our expectations as viewers. It's a case of muddled tone and confusion of purpose. The best thing about this is Marissa Tomei (the best thing about any movie Marissa Tomei is in is Marissa Tomei) because Tomei actually seems to navigate the humour/drama divide more gracefully than either of the male leads. If the story had been told through her character's perspective rather than the Reilly character's, this might have worked.A film that is carried by the cast - batman71
Cyrus gets a mild thumbs up from me, I should warn you if your looking for a laugh out loud comedy you might want to keep looking.
This film is more edgy than funny filled with plenty of awkward freaky family moments. I enjoyed the performaces of the three main stars but felt that the film comes of more creepy than funny.
