Case 39
Some cases should never be opened.
Academy Award winner Renée Zellweger stars in this terrifying, supernatural thriller about a social worker who has been assigned the unusual and disturbing case of Lillith Sullivan...a girl with a strange and mysterious past. When Emily (Renée Zellweger) opens her home in an attempt to help Lillith, it turns into a deadly nightmare she may not survive. Co-starring Bradley Cooper (The Hangover), Case 39 is a heart-stopping chiller with startling surprises that lead to a shocking and sinister ending.

Scary and freaky!!! :s - DDmoviebuff
I loved Zellweger in this, and Bradley Cooper actually! They acted well together, but was disappointed to see how little he was in the movie:( But his small part was really well done and left me wanting to see more of him (not in that way ;P )but he has great acting chops, again, another good looking actor who's not just another pretty face:)
Great suspense in this his movie and the little girl actress was phenomenal in this! Another reviewer mentioned this reminded her of Orphan, and yes it really does! If you liked this movie you will definitely like Orphan!! Both great spooky and suspenseful horror flicks. Both are modern day must sees for the true horror fans out there!A Little Fast, But Still Creepy! - TheGame
I love how the movie starts off normal then slowly takes us into the realm of Horror. This type of genre "good child whom is really evil" is starting to be a bit over done and well traversed. Be that as it may, this movie was decent. Acting is superb, Rene of course can really do no wrong.
The child actress is phenonmenal as well (where do they find these kids?)
The introduction of the supernatural feels organic, I was fine with more or less everything.Delivers a Good Scare - c4th
I’ve been searching for a movie that delivers a good scare for a long time and finally found one in Case 39. It’s based on a premise tried many times both successfully and unsuccessfully. Take something we should not fear and make it frightening. Christian Alvart pulls it off in spades by taking the concept one step further on both sides of the coin. Convince us that someone is not only innocent but a helpless victim in much need of warm nurturing. Then expose her beyond scary as evil incarnate employing sadistic charm to manipulate those around her into providing her every whim.
It’s not perfect. The turn of events is something seasoned horror fans will predict but the convincing acting of seventeen year old Jodelle Ferland (She looks considerably younger.) as she transforms from innocent to evil makes the ride enjoyable anyway. Her morphing of the character was done so well that the cgi used to physically morph her appearance seemed unnecessary. I did find the ending weak and still don’t get why the concluding scene brings about such dramatically different results.
Even with its flaws this movie is better than most productions in the horror genre over the last several years. If you want a good scare, I say Case 39 is a choice worth your strong consideration.
