Love & Distrust
NOTE: This is a feature-length collection of five shorts from 2000 to 2008.
Love & Distrust follows a day in the life of eight strangers as they search for happiness. A waitress (Adams), a business man (Franco) and a lusting teenager (Pattinson) from different backgrounds share similar experiences as they search for love, trust and the meaning of life. Love & Distrust is a film about how events shape our perspective and help us form connections with each other in the most unlikely of places.

A brave attempt. But poor results. Came across as very amateurish make despite some very big names.
Nice short stories. Good theme. Solid cast. Yet all these don't translate into a great picture.
Reminded me of many movies of collections of sort in different genre...
Remember Paris,jaitamie....Newyork...another one with French title ...all about cinemas in various countries...another Guy Ritchie video clips...in youtube? for BMW ad which starred Madonna.....this movie could have been great but fails to deliver....
some funny scenes though...I like Alison Janney and she gives a hilarious preformance!!
If you are really bored and want to see something different you can rent it.5 vignettes, 5 understated headliners, but not 5 stars - napierslogs
"Love & Distrust" suffers from a problem that most independent films would love to have: too much star power. Starring Robert Pattinson, Sam Worthington, James Franco, Amy Adams and Robert Downey, Jr, people seem to be expecting a cross of "Twilight" meets "Avatar" meets "Spider-Man" meets "Enchanted" meets "Iron Man". Expectations are way out of whack. A film with that kind of mix would be even worse than "Love & Distrust".
What "Love & Distrust" really is, is a compilation of 5 unrelated short films in the vein of something like "Coffee and Cigarettes" (2003). The vignettes have nothing in common except that they are all supposed to show the various elements associated with love, like: obsession, mistrust, and seduction. The second major problem of the film is that the 15-minute vignettes are drawn out with short-lived characters and obtuse lessons on love.
"Love & Distrust" may be slow, boring and arguably meaningless, and I probably know more about love than its stars. But it's a conceptual look at the variations of love and trust that hasn't been explored in quite this way and I appreciate their attempt at least.

Wow, its been a while since I have seen a movie this bad. A bunch of clips of different couples centering around the theme of love. Saying that, only two of the clips have a tangible ending, and after each one the viewer is left wondering what the point of the clip was. My wife got bored and left half way through the movie, I kept watching thinking it would all make sense in the end....it didn't. Don't bother zipping this one, unless you have an extra 93min of your life to waste.
