Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1
Nowhere is Safe
Part 1 begins as Harry, Ron and Hermione set out on their perilous mission to track down and destroy the secret to Voldemort's immortality and destruction—the Horcruxes. On their own, without the guidance of their professors or the protection of Professor Dumbledore, the three friends must now rely on one another more than ever. But there are Dark Forces in their midst that threaten to tear them apart.
Meanwhile, the wizarding world has become a dangerous place for all enemies of the Dark Lord. The long-feared war has begun and Voldemort's Death Eaters seize control of the Ministry of Magic and even Hogwarts, terrorizing and arresting anyone who might oppose them. But the one prize they still seek is the one most valuable to Voldemort: Harry Potter. The Chosen One has become the hunted one as the Death Eaters search for Harry with orders to bring him to Voldemort... alive.
Harry's only hope is to find the Horcruxes before Voldemort finds him. But as he searches for clues, he uncovers an old and almost forgotten tale—the legend of the Deathly Hallows. And if the legend turns out to be true, it could give Voldemort the ultimate power he seeks.
Little does Harry know that his future has already been decided by his past when, on that fateful day, he became "the Boy Who Lived." No longer just a boy, Harry Potter is drawing ever closer to the task for which he has been preparing since the day he first stepped into Hogwarts: the ultimate battle with Voldemort.

Poor Source Material = Poor Movie - Mookie
This movie was only slightly more entertaining than the poorly written, in need of an editor, book it was based on. I loved Harry Potter when it started. A lovely children's series about a boy discovering a school of magic. But then Rowling got too big for an editor and the last three tomes of the series were weighed down by bad plotting and poor characterization. Who can root for this Harry who whines all the time and makes bad decision after bad decision? The most frustrating thing about this last book was it turned into a 300 page "we are camping on the run" boredom with "who has to wear the pendant of doom next"? And the author never ever explains WHY someone has to wear it instead of keeping it in a bag. But because they decide they have to wear it we get contrived angst and the three friends turning on each other. The biggest problem with the book is the most exciting things are happening away from these three camping. More specifically the rebellion against the dark forces. THAT is the book that she should have written. Instead we only hear about it right at the end. And the hero of this half of the story Dolby the elf. Whee! Six books to set this one up and it falls flat on its face...and worse J.K. decides to add the idea of the Deathly Hallows...because searching for the Horcruxes wasn't frustrating/confusing enough (BTW - the animation for the story of the Deathly Hallows was the one bright spot). The three key actors do their best and so does the director but because of the decision to make this into two movies and because the book is so weak they never had a chance.
So if you hate the book (and why wouldn't you?) then this movie does not save it.Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows: Part 1 - VeerdiCoquitlam
What an enormous waste of time!!!
75 to 80% of this flop is filmed so dark, that you can barely see what is going on!! It si boring, slow moving, makes very little sense and is a monstrous waste of time. I'm glad I did not receive the 2nd part at the same time, so I was lucky enough to be able to cancel the ZIP!!!
In addition, the warning said :"some sensuality", well, I did not see any!!!! If zipping up a dress without anything else "sensual" happing is classed as sensuality, then this warning was just the same as the intend of the entire movie: "A cheap, money-grabbing effort", playing on the success of the previous movies, the first few of which were reasonably watcable. This one is almost a travesty!! The only saving grace is, that the thing is brokken up into two parts, so we can save ourselves from being conned into watching the rest of this nonsense. Because a big con0-job it certainly is!!!

This one rally dragged for me. It was almost like there was too much story to make one movie for Deathly Hollows but there certainly wasn't enough story to make two, so they kinda limped through Part 1 because they knew people would go and see it anyway. For sure this was a dark movie as well. I stopped letting my kids watch these when Azkaban came out. Maybe when they are older (like 15 or 16) I especially didn't agree with it when Voldormort killed Charity on the table and they actually showed her laying there with blood all over her and her eyes wide open. Again, not for kids. Yup, this one was kinda of like the story that never end. I certainly hope Part 2 is better. I don;t like it when good series end on a flat note.
