Burlesque
A small town singer, Ali (Christina Aguilera), moves to the big city for her chance at stardom where she is enchanted by Burlesque, a glamorous nightclub packed with dancers, sizzling music, and an owner (Cher) in need of a star. Jam-packed with visually stunning musical numbers and an all-star cast featuring Eric Dane, Kristen Bell and Stanley Tucci.

1) Christina Aguliera is a beautiful women, talented and perfect for this role.
2) The singing could have used more dance tunes, Top 40, and modern stuff.
3) Not much risky stuff here -- fairly family friendly, for the most part.
4) Not enough dancing -- Step Up seemed to have better dance numbers.Mindless fun that needed less Cher - Jackblack76
Burlesque is not going to wow you with the depth of character, or originality in terms of story line. Plot points are revealed with all the subtlety of a fireworks display.
Still, the song and dance numbers are very well done, and highly entertaining. Christina Aguilera is surprisingly good in making her transition from singing to acting, showing a decent sense of comedic timing, and showing that she has learned from the mistakes of other singers who have made embarrassing acting debuts.
The weakest link in terms of casting has to be Cher. Her expression and tone barely change over the course of the movie, and her singing is simply awful when compared to the younger Aguilera. I spent much of this movie wondering how much better Bette Midler would have been in the role.
Still, a decent song and dance movie that doesn't ask for too much thinking.Burlesque - Jude
Lots of music in this movie, a few laughs, a romantic comedy plot and some acceptable acting. Wonderful to see Cher, of course. And the singing and dancing were really memorable. Certainly only a rental, but still a pleasant way to spend an evening. Definitely a "chick flick".
