I enjoyed watching this as an adult without my preschooler even present. It is fun, engaging and humorous. The lead character has a lot of spunk and fun to her which really made the show fun to watch. It was different than I ever pictured the story of Rapunzel so it was fun to see the creativity behind the making of the film. My two year old niece loves this show and watches it over and over so apparently it is a delight for many age groups!Disney does it again - BrAmber
My family and I loved this movie. It was time for Disney to put out another great movie, and this is it. It was nice to see a princess that wasn't so helpless as they seem to all be in previous movies. She isn't out looking for her prince charming! This movie made all the adults in my family laugh as well as entertained the little ones. Highly recommended!!!!One of Disney's BEST; destined to be an animation classic - jasperlily
Like Toy Story and Ratatouille before it, Tangled manages to excel in two vital areas--an engaging storyline and staggering advancement in animation technology. I don't feel an ounce of guilt or shame in admitting that I, as an adult, genuinely and thoroughly enjoyed this movie FOR MYSELF. I was laughing out loud and pressed the reverse button on my remote control several times to review hilarious scenes.
Tangled has everything to appeal to all ages: fast-paced action, tender romance, a couple dark moments (nothing heavy but it may be scary for 3 to 5 year olds), poignant music and LOTS of humour (if you didn't chuckle at Maximus the horse or the music number at the Snuggly Duckling tavern, something is seriously wrong with you). The dialogue has a good balance of wit (unlike the dominance of gimmicky, "smart aleck" jokes found in Aladdin or Shrek). I was amazed with the life-like quality of details such as the physical movement of characters, their facial expressions, the glistening on the water and the realistic appearance of tears or moisture on skin. Look at the long list of names in the credits and you begin to appreciate the amount of work that went into creating this film (they actually had an entire animation department that was solely dedicated to work on Rapunzel's hair. Yup, HER HAIR). I believe that Tangled will stand in years to come as a significant marker in the evolution of computer graphics.
I was about to give this a rating of 4 stars but realized I didn't have any justifiable reason in holding back that extra star. Animated features deserve as much serious recognition as any non-animated drama out there...and Tangled really delivers in heart, smarts and wholesome comedy. I wouldn't hesitate in adding this DVD to my personal collection. Five stars and two thumbs up...waaay up!!
