Catlow
From Louis L'amour's novel comes a hard-riding, straight-shooting western saga.
Tough, lusty Catlow (Yul Brynner) is fast on the draw and even faster when it comes to making a dollar. He's also a wanted man. The Mexican Army is after him. So are his hellcat girlfriend (Dalian Lavi), an Indian war party, a vengeful killer (Leonard Nimoy) and several hotheaded cowpokes from Catlow's outlaw gang. Then there's Catlow's best friend Marshal Ben Cowan (Richard Crenna), who wants the pleasure of putting Catlow behind bars all to himself.
Brynner and Crenna bring a backslapping, backstabbing camaraderie to their portrayal of friendly foes. Nimoy, as mean as a hungry coyote, supplies the menace. And director Sam Wanamaker sets up a entertaining tone that's winkingly amiable one minute and whip-swiftly action-packed the next. Saddle up with Catlow.

Great Classic Western - newdaysof
Catlow is your classic western movie with good guys, bad guys, a sherrif hunting a wanted man, $2 million dollars worth of gold, a gold heist, flight across a desert, the Mexican army and dangerous Injuns in hot pursuit, and lots of beautiful women and senoritas. What more could you ask for in a western?
Yul Brynner is great as the likeable bandit who is friends with the sherrif who is hunting him (played by Richard Crenna). Leonard Nimoy is good as the mean and scary bounty-hunter in one of his first movie roles after Star Trek.
The scenery is fantastic and the action is unbelievable. The horse-riding and chasing and shootouts are amazing. My only concern is how the horses must have suffered during this film shoot. But other than that, it's a great western with great actors and characters and tons of action.
