I Am Comic
An Ode to the Art & Occupational Hazards of Stand-Up Comedy
Laugh, chuckle, giggle, snicker, hoot, snort. Through unprecedented interviews, exclusive backstage access, and wonderful cheesy animation, you will thrill to their side-splitting observations, be awesome at their insight, and take the harrowing journey with Ritch Shydner as he seeks to recapture the magic.

Wonderful Documentary but Flawed - Mookie
As someone who LOVEs the behind the scenes of stand up comedy I enjoyed this film a lot. The bits that focused on the stand up comedians and the ups and downs (mostly the downs) are things I would watch for 10 hours let alone 100 minutes. And that is part of the problem - the film maker didn't go far enough painting the life of a typical stand up comic. Of the hecklers, of the bad bar owners of the lif eon the road. More please! Instead, we got a lot of the film devoted to Ritch Shydner (a very good comedian in the 80-90's) trying to make his come back. First, that felt forced (i.e. preplanned) even though they made it appear as if the idea for a come back occurred during shooting and second Ritch wasn't very good. Although that showed the honesty of how open mikes go (and how badly they go)I would have rather seen a NEw comic doing this not an old one trying to recapture the old days. But there is so much good in this film it is still enjoyable. I just wish I could hear comics like Louis CK, Jim Gaffigan and Andy Kindler go on for 2 hours just talking about comedy instead of the 1 minute snippets they are given in this film.
